Becoming a Christian
At New Life Christian Church International, we believe and teach that there is only one way to become a Christian, and that is through Jesus Christ and Him alone. (1 John 5:11-12)
First, you must admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23) Because of Adam, all of mankind is born in sin. You must then choose to accept God’s way of salvation, provided by His Son, Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9-10 tells us that, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”
A simple, sincere prayer is the way we initiate our connection with God. Pray something like this:
“God, I thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I recognize that I am a sinner. I proclaim Jesus as the Lord of my life, and I choose to do things Your way. I believe Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead to pay the penalty for my sin.
Jesus, thank You for paying the price to save me and give me eternal life. Help me to live this life in a way that would honor You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
